The 55pt Mag Lock is for cards that are a little too thick for a standard case. Heavier chrome and premium inserts, thin single-swatch relics and some older cards on thick board tend to measure here. In a 35pt case those cards press against the lid and the magnets will not seat flush; in a 55pt one they sit properly in the recess with both faces clear and the magnetic closure fully shut.

Why collectors pick this one

Choosing the right one

Same rule as top loaders: the point rating is the card's **thickness**. 35pt covers almost all modern standard cards; thick stock, patch and relic cards need 55pt and up. A case that is too large lets the card rattle, which defeats the point.

About the Mag Lock Card Case 55pt

A one-touch is meant to hold a card firmly without squeezing it. Too small and the case pushes on the surface and edges; too big and the card shifts and wears its corners against the frame. The 55pt case covers the gap between ordinary cards and true memorabilia, which is where a lot of sports inserts and premium parallels sit.

It suits numbered inserts from high-end sports products, thin jersey cards, and specialty TCG cards on heavier stock. Standard Pokémon, Magic or One Piece singles should go in the 35pt case instead, and anything with a noticeable patch is better in 75pt or 100pt.

If you are not sure which size a card is, try it in a 35pt case first. If the lid will not close without pressure, this is the size it needs. The case opens by hand when you want the card out, which makes it easy to move a card to a semi-rigid holder before a grading submission. On a shelf, a stand behind the case keeps it upright and lets both faces be seen.

Common questions

Are these UV protective?

Check the individual product page — UV rating varies by case. Regardless of rating, no acrylic case makes a card safe in direct sunlight; keep displayed cards out of it.

Can I put a graded card in one?

No. Graded cards come in their own sealed slab, which is far thicker than any of these. A graded card case is the right product for a slab.

Will the magnets damage the card?

No. The magnets are at the edge of the case, holding the two acrylic halves together — they are not in contact with the card and exert no pressure on it.
