The matte Blackout sleeve cut down to Japanese mini size, sold in packs of 60 to suit a Yu-Gi-Oh! main deck with Extra and Side Deck room to spare. The opaque back stops anyone reading your cards from behind, while the matte finish takes the shine off under store lights and gives small cards a bit of grip, which helps when you are fanning a hand of mini cards.

Why collectors pick this one

Choosing the right one

Two decisions. **Size** — standard sleeves fit Pokémon, Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards; Japanese mini sleeves fit Yu-Gi-Oh, which is noticeably smaller. Japanese-language Pokémon cards are standard size, so they take standard sleeves. **Finish** — gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly, matte reduces glare and grips slightly, which most players prefer for long sessions.

About the Blackout Deck Sleeves — Japanese Mini Size, Matte

Small cards are fiddly. A glossy mini sleeve can stick to its neighbour, and pulling one card off the top of the deck sometimes brings two. A matte surface reduces that cling, so draws and searches are cleaner. It also keeps the table readable for your opponent and for anyone filming a feature match, since card text does not flare under overhead lighting.

Sixty sleeves is a sensible count for Yu-Gi-Oh!: a 40-card main deck plus a 15-card Extra Deck leaves a few spares for swaps. If your main deck runs closer to 60, or you sleeve a Side Deck too, you will want a second pack in the same colour. The sleeve is sized for the 59 × 86 mm Japanese card format and will not suit Japanese-language Pokémon or One Piece, which are printed at standard size.

Choose the matte version over the standard Japanese Blackout sleeve (BODS-JPN) if glare or grip matters to you. For double-sleeving, load the card into a Mint Fit Japanese inner sleeve first, then into this sleeve. Keep spare sleeves from the same pack, since replacing one worn sleeve with one from a different batch is easier when the colour matches.

Common questions

What is the difference between standard and Japanese mini size?

Japanese mini (often called Yu-Gi-Oh size) is cut for 59 × 86 mm cards, smaller than the 63 × 88 mm standard, so those cards need their own sleeve size. Yu-Gi-Oh is mini size. Pokémon (English and Japanese), Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards are standard.

Should I choose matte or gloss?

Matte reduces glare and has slightly more grip, which most players prefer for long sessions and for photographing cards. Gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly. Neither protects better than the other.

What is an over sleeve for?

Double-sleeving. The card goes in an inner sleeve first, then the whole thing goes into an over sleeve. The card is then sealed on all sides and the inner sleeve takes no handling at all — standard practice for anything valuable that still sees play.
