Palms Off Gaming Premium Over Sleeves — Japanese Mini, Matte
A$17.95 — Pre-order
This matte over sleeve is sized for Japanese mini cards and is aimed at Yu-Gi-Oh! players who double-sleeve for tournaments. It goes over a card that already sits in an inner sleeve, sealing it in, and the matte surface cuts the shine from overhead lights. Small cards are also harder to pick apart than standard ones, and a matte finish gives your fingers more to work with.
Why collectors pick this one
- Matte outer sleeve sized for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards
- Less glare and less cling between small cards
- Seals the card when paired with an inner sleeve
- Pairs with Mint Fit Japanese top- or side-loading inners
- Hides fine scratches
Choosing the right one
Two decisions. **Size** — standard sleeves fit Pokémon, Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards; Japanese mini sleeves fit Yu-Gi-Oh, which is noticeably smaller. Japanese-language Pokémon cards are standard size, so they take standard sleeves. **Finish** — gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly, matte reduces glare and grips slightly, which most players prefer for long sessions.
About the Premium Over Sleeves — Japanese Mini, Matte
In a typical Yu-Gi-Oh! game you are drawing, searching and shuffling constantly, and small double-sleeved cards can stick together or slip out of a fanned hand. Matte outer sleeves reduce that cling, so single cards come off the deck cleanly. They also hide hairline scratches, so a deck that has been through a full regional still looks even from the back.
Pair it with Mint Fit Japanese inner sleeves. With the top-loading inner, flip the inner sleeve so its opening faces the bottom of the over sleeve. With the side-loading inner, the openings already cross at right angles. Either combination keeps dust and spilled drinks away from the card. Japanese-language Pokémon and One Piece cards are standard size, so they need the standard over sleeve (PROS-ST-MAT) instead.
Choose matte over the clear Japanese over sleeve (PROS-JPN-CLR) for competitive play, filmed matches or bright rooms; choose clear if card art and foil shine come first. When the outer layer starts to wear at the corners, re-sleeve the whole deck at once so every card matches.

Common questions
What is the difference between standard and Japanese mini size?
Japanese mini (often called Yu-Gi-Oh size) is cut for 59 × 86 mm cards, smaller than the 63 × 88 mm standard, so those cards need their own sleeve size. Yu-Gi-Oh is mini size. Pokémon (English and Japanese), Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards are standard.
Should I choose matte or gloss?
Matte reduces glare and has slightly more grip, which most players prefer for long sessions and for photographing cards. Gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly. Neither protects better than the other.
What is an over sleeve for?
Double-sleeving. The card goes in an inner sleeve first, then the whole thing goes into an over sleeve. The card is then sealed on all sides and the inner sleeve takes no handling at all — standard practice for anything valuable that still sees play.
