The matte Premium Over Sleeve does the outer-sleeve job with a finish built for the table. It slides over a card that is already in an inner sleeve, closing it in on every side, and its matte surface keeps reflections off the card face. If you double-sleeve a competitive Pokémon, Magic or Lorcana deck and play under bright fluorescent light, this is the over sleeve to use.

Why collectors pick this one

Choosing the right one

Two decisions. **Size** — standard sleeves fit Pokémon, Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards; Japanese mini sleeves fit Yu-Gi-Oh, which is noticeably smaller. Japanese-language Pokémon cards are standard size, so they take standard sleeves. **Finish** — gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly, matte reduces glare and grips slightly, which most players prefer for long sessions.

About the Premium Over Sleeves — Standard, Matte

Matte over sleeves are popular in competitive play for practical reasons. They cut glare, so you and your opponent can read cards across the mat without tilting them. They tend to separate more easily when you draw, since matte surfaces cling to each other less than gloss. They also hide fine scratches better, so a deck still looks tidy after a weekend of rounds.

Use it with any snug inner sleeve cut for standard cards. With a top-loading inner such as Mint Fit Inner Sleeves, load the inner sleeve upside down so its opening sits at the bottom of the over sleeve. With Mint Fit Side-Loading Inner Sleeves the openings already cross at right angles, so you can load the card in any order. Either way the card is sealed against dust, spills and edge wear.

Choose matte over the clear version (PROS-ST-CLR) when glare, grip or hiding scuffs matters more than pure clarity; clear shows the art a shade crisper. For Yu-Gi-Oh! decks, use the Japanese mini matte version (PROS-JPN-MAT). Replace over sleeves as a set when they start to look worn, so the whole deck stays uniform.

Common questions

What is the difference between standard and Japanese mini size?

Japanese mini (often called Yu-Gi-Oh size) is cut for 59 × 86 mm cards, smaller than the 63 × 88 mm standard, so those cards need their own sleeve size. Yu-Gi-Oh is mini size. Pokémon (English and Japanese), Magic, One Piece, Lorcana and sports cards are standard.

Should I choose matte or gloss?

Matte reduces glare and has slightly more grip, which most players prefer for long sessions and for photographing cards. Gloss shuffles faster and shows colour more vividly. Neither protects better than the other.

What is an over sleeve for?

Double-sleeving. The card goes in an inner sleeve first, then the whole thing goes into an over sleeve. The card is then sealed on all sides and the inner sleeve takes no handling at all — standard practice for anything valuable that still sees play.
